Clean WaterAccess
Because life begins with clean water.
Clean Water
Access
Access to clean, safe water is the foundation of every other improvement a community can make. When families spend hours collecting water from unsafe sources, children miss school, women carry dangerous loads, and disease spreads unchecked through contaminated streams and shallow wells.
Razwa Foundation drills boreholes and constructs shadoofs across Busia District, delivering safe, clean water directly into communities. Each installation includes training on water hygiene, basic maintenance, and long-term stewardship — so communities are self-sufficient rather than dependent on outside help to maintain what they have built.
How We Do It
Borehole Drilling
Identifying optimal sites and constructing hand-operated or solar-powered boreholes that communities can maintain independently using local skills and readily available parts.
Shadoof Construction
Building traditional water-lifting structures that require no external power and are constructed using locally sourced materials — sustainable by design.
Water Safety Training
Teaching communities about water-borne disease, safe storage, purification, and hygiene practices that protect health for generations beyond the installation.
Before the borehole, our children walked two hours every morning to collect water from the swamp. They missed school, they got sick. Now the water is right here. They are in class — learning, growing. That borehole changed everything for us.
